Arm-wrestling & poker

No — those things aren’t related. On Sunday (13/01) Claire & I returned to the forest with a present for Jimmy & Timmy (Claire’s Xmas budgies). We cleaned up and then had a typical forest mini-party. Yesterday (Mon 14/01) I applied for a few China jobs, read about aboriginal homelands and finally got back into pub-poker.
I went down to the RE with two german couchsurfers for a game. Out of the 45 players, one of the germans & I made the final table. He finished 5th and I finished 3rd. I played fairly well for most of the night, but my last hand wasn’t good.
I’m no good at the end-game. With 3 people left (quite evenly chipped) and huge blinds, I decided I needed to be more aggressive. I had T8o from SB and decided to push… but for some reason I decided to wait until after the flop. The flop came junk and I went all-in… but the BB (who had 86o) flopped big, called, and won. I should have moved all-in pre-flop.
After that we came home and had another patented forest mini-parties. Joe & I argued about the merits of anarchy (I was pro-) and decided to settle the argument with arm-wrestling. Tom (our new housemate — kiwi guy) and an American couchsurfer joined in. I won.
