On the road again

Posted by John Humphreys on February 11, 2007

I had a busy last week in Australia before getting back on the road. Last Saturday (3 Feb) I went down to Brisbane with my Dad, Andy (uncle) and Michael (cousin) to watch the Queensland Reds play Wellington Hurricanes in the first round of the Super 14. The Reds won.

After the game I went to the RE pub with Joseph and didn’t get kicked out. For some reason we thought it would be a good idea to have a friendly fight and I woke up the next morning with what felt like a broken rib. On Sunday I said goodbyes to Jody & Masami and Jason & Kate before going out to a Korean dinner with Joseph & Tae-eun.

For the next few days I finished off an essay on Austrian economics, did my personal and company tax returns, said some goodbyes and got myself ready to go. On Thursday I flew down to Sydney for a night on the town with Luke. After too many beers we thought it would be a good idea to have a friendly fight and I woke up the next morning with a huge hangover and what felt like two broken ribs. We spent the next day complaining like old men and watching Australia lose to England in the cricket before I had dinner with DaveL, Terje & Druery to discuss politics.

And then… finally… on Saturday I got my flight to Korea. It was strange leaving Australia again as I had just got used to being surrounded by my own culture. But I’m excited to be out in the world again.
